(Ivanova sat small folding chair to watch he fireworks. The rides and games were a bit childish to her, this was more comfortable. Besides, it had been so long since she'd looked up and seen sky; doubly long since she's seen fireworkds.)

[ There are boatmen offering gondola rides along the shore, but there are also little shops tied up to the pier that can be accessed via gangplank. While most of the shops look normal enough, one of the signs reads:

Folutionf for Your Refolutionf
Tell me your planf for the New Year and Get A Prize for Free!!!

If you wish to have your character take a step into that particular little boatshop, post here. ♥ ]

Hibari was never a fan of crowds but a change in scenery was far too tempting to pass up. Not that it took all that long for the circus to piss him off and send him out towards the pier shops. Maybe he could force them to pay him a fee like back home? Not likely.

The poorly spelled sign caught his attention and before he knew it he was inside the little boatshop, looking around.

Ryohei, naturally, was having an EXTREME time at the carnival, but he was surprised to see Hibari had bothered to come check it out. Intending to say hello to his friend, he followed him towards the pier and right into the boat shop. Inside, he finally caught up with Hibari and suicidally unceremoniously slung his arm around the prefect's shoulders.

"Hey! I extremely didn't think you'd want to come to the carnival." He grinned. "I'm glad you did, though."

FUN TIMES FOR EVERYONE. bellewhether January 2 2010, 15:12:43 UTC
The little shop they were in was odd: not the least because the inside appeared to be even bigger than the out. There was a polished wooden counter that came up just to waist level, and behind it were shelves. Shelves that stretched up, and up, into the rafters that were barely visible because of the weak lamplight and how far away they were.

The shop's merchandise was a motley assortment, a mess of trinkets and baubles without any apparent order to them-- paper lanterns in one corner, a bundle of what might be sticks (or weapons, as the darkness made it hard to tell) in another. From the ceiling, a few multicolored pinwheels and paper ofuda were strung up in bunches ( ... )

Pocahontas had been wearing herself ragged thoroughly exploring every tent and game - and by this time was aglow with tattoos covering nearly every inch of her body.

However, there was one area she'd been avoiding. The rides. She'd been unable to come up with a reasonable explanation with how they were running, and had saved them for last, so as to give a full check-over.

So now there was one Native American standing much too close to the roller coaster, looking for something to explain the mystery to her. "How does it move?"

Ivanova decided to move through the carnival, if only to find some food that wasn't deep fried, or filled with enough calories to feed six.

She noticed the young woman an unsafe distance from the ride.

"You might want to step back." She offered.

[[ooc: continuing the short thread here.]]

"Hello, Alfred." Helena grinned up at him, in a bemused sort of way. He was so excited, as usual, and she had really learned to look forward to his enthusiasm. Not to mention the fact that he had invited her to go to a carnival was slightly amusing (given her circus-y background) and at the same time made her slightly nervous (as most things with him did). Still, just like the Ball a month or two ago, she promised herself she'd have a good time. Although she had tucked the Really Useful Book into the pocket of her jeans, just in case.

Half staring at him with the bemused expression was quickly getting awkward, so she glances around at the carnival looking for something to answer his question with. She catches sight of the boats at the romantically lit pier and figures that that is a bad idea. So she goes with the next thing that catches her eye, which was a... hell, she had no idea what it was, and the Really Useful Book was already burning a hole in her pocket. It looked to be some sort of ( ... )

Helena should be learning by now that America is relatively harmless. Despite the fact that he's ignorant oblivious to everything lots of things humans did. Mostly because he's never really been observant, and when you're a nation in economic recession and at war, it's hard to not be self-absorbed. And anyway, since he's the hero and he wants to do everything, Helena obviously wants to do everything he does.

Best/worst boyfriend ever.

So yes, he sees the weird creatures around and they creep him out, mostly only because England sees the crazy shit and America is the sane one. Obviously. Though the lizard didn't creep him out because experience tells him that large talking lizards save you money on car insurance, though this one praised him for sacrificing memories, one to that unappreciative jerk face he used to live with.

So he sees the games and even though going on rides is cooler, he could show off a bit or something at them. "Sure! We could play a few! And then we could ride the ferris wheel!"

The ferris wheel. That was... scary. And at the same time she was looking forward to it. Yes, he is rather oblivious as she has learned over time (the hard way), but she has to wonder if he knows what he's doing asking her to ride the ferris wheel on new year. Was that supposed to be an intentional invitation to something romantic, or did he really just want to ride the ferris wheel and was randomly asking her along? Judging by his usual behavior, she'd have to go with the latter.

"Sure." That was the most eloquent answer she could come up with on short notice.

The two of them walk over to the booths, and she glances around for something that looks fun and she wouldn't fail! at. She buys some popcorn, and immediately feels bad for the vendor she bought it from; she's spent so many nights stuck outside in the cold selling popcorn, looking like an idiot. Although the vendor looked like he was genuinely enjoying it, so she was glad.

But again. Relatively harmless. Sure, he knows what romance is, but he's a bit distracted by shiny objects to initiate anything. Of course, this also means that he has no idea that she feels awkward walking around a circus-y atmosphere since it reminds her of 'home', he's busy being excited and omgcarnival.

America loves circuses and carnivals and amusement parks. He can't help it.

So yay booths! The sheep thing is ignored for now. So creepy. But there is that sign that promises free prizes. Hmm.

But games, games he can do. He buys some blue cotton candy, and plucks some off to eat as they wander. Of course, the thought that some of the games might be rigged doesn't cross his mind though it makes me wonder if they are but still, he'll try them anyway.
