The boy was sleeping, or trying to. He was trying to figure out how to reassure both men without making the other upset. It was a no-win situation for him and he wasn't completely sure why neither of them were able to believe his words.
At the knocking at the door he slowly stood and padded to the door, opening it a crack to peer out at Hubb. When he realized who it was he opened the door fully. "Hubb?" He questioned with a pert frown. "Is everything alright?"
"I don't think Seimei would hurt anyone here. He says he has a reason for hurting the people he's hurt. He's my brother. I believe him." The boy's words were truth. Seimei had always helped him. Stopped their mother from hurting him when he could and helped bandage his wounds when he couldn't be there to stop her. To Ritsuka, even with the bad things Seimei had done, that kindness was also still his brother. The boy had no want to change Seimei, simply the desire for everyone to live peacefully together.
"I want to live happily with Soubi and Seimei. Soubi is afraid I'm going to leave him for Seimei. I don't know how to convince them that I can love them both."
"He says he can't tell me." He frowned even more. "I told him I won't let him hurt Seimei anymore and I don't think he will. Seimei says I don't have time for him, but it's only been three days. I don't think he's used to things yet. It's only been a few days for him but it's been two years for me." Finally, he took a drink of the tea.
"They haven't asked me to choose, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to do anything without worrying what one of them thinks of me. I don't want Soubi to be sad, but I love Seimei and want to spend time with him." That seemed to be the whole of it to Ritsuka. He wanted to be able to spend time with Seimei without feeling like he was upsetting and betraying Soubi. He didn't want his lover feeling sad because he was spending time with his own brother.
"Maybe it's one you won't accept, because it isn't a good reason." Hubb frowned. He never did like this secrecy shit. "You said he hasn't hurt you, but doesn't it hurt you when he hurts Soubi? And did you think that he isn't misunderstanding things, maybe he knows you feel guilty about everything; people manipulate you when you act like that."
Ritsuka's frown only deepened. "I still want to believe that he's a good person. I still love Seimei, even if he isn't really kind." Everyone seemed to think he was wrong for still loving his brother, but he couldn't help it. No matter what Seimei did, he'd still love him.
"I told Seimei that he was being stupid. I'm not worried about Seimei."
"You need to set your own boundries, and that may even mean doing things you don't want to. You can tell Seimei that you won't tolerate how he treats Soubi, and mean it. If he keeps acting that way, you have to do something, even refuse to talk to him. Otherwise, you're refusing to protect Soubi, and that will hurt him."
Hubb paused and then sighed. "If you were walking in the woods, carrying a rifle tha you hypothetically knew how to use, and saw two soldiers about to shoot thirty villagers. At that point, you may act and kill 2 men, or do nothing and kill thirty. Doing nothing is still an action Ritsuka. If you don't condemn how he's been treated, you are, by default, condoning it."
Sadly, this all makes sense to Ritsuka.no_no_badtouchOctober 25 2009, 09:34:40 UTC
"I don't know those people. It's easy to make choices about people you don't know then about people you love. If Seimei hurts Soubi then I'll punish him. I won't forgive him for hurting Soubi, but if Soubi hurts Seimei I won't forgive him either. I'll punish him too."

"It's not about easy or hard, it's about what's right." He took a drink of his rootbeer. "How will you punish them? And how will you enforce it? And what do you mean by hurt? It seems that people are hurting right now."

"I don't know yet." The boy confessed before drinking his tea some more.
"Soubi is the only one who thinks I'll leave him. I haven't done anything to make him think I will. I told him I won't, and I won't. It's his fault if he won't believe me. I don't know what to do if he tried to leave me again though."

He looked at the boy closely, "Did either of them ask you to choose between them?"
