Cassie was taking a break from her shift. She had a coffee in her hand and decided that she would go to the observation deck.
As she walked in to the dimly lit room, she saw a figure standing in front of the window with their hands behind their back. She seemed to be deep in thought. Cassie walked over and stood beside the woman. Looking over at her she smiled, and then looked at the planted that was below them.
"When you look at it from here, its hard to believe that there are people down there."
Taking a swig from her coffee mug, she returned to looking at the planet.
"Harder to swallow that our people are down there and we can't help them," Lynn replied.
She cast a sideways glance at the younger woman, mentally riffling through the personnel files. She'd made a point of being able to match names to faces for every crewmember. "Engineering. MacArthur, right?"
Her lips quirked in a faintly amused smile. "Creed. Security." The smile was superceded by a raised eyebrow. "You hadn't heard? We lost contact with the first away team. A second one went after them. Damn fool idea if you ask me. Half the command staff's down there."
