"Nawigation reports no change," he announced, his tone perhaps a shade regretful. He'd have liked something to break the monotony of flying around in a circle all day.

She listened to other reports and caught the tone of their navigator. Studying the way Ensign Chekov bunched up his shoulders and dropped his head, she guessed that he was growing bored too. It was odd how Human's expressed boredom with body tension. A nap or a stretch seemed so much more sensible. Most Humans, however, enjoyed conversation during dull moments. Commander Creed was a firm leader, but she did not seem unsociable.
To stimulate conversation, M'Ress asked, "How long do you think the survey will take?" She looked to the Commander because she obviously knew more about the mission. The question was open to everyone, though.
