He'd just gotten out of the department meeting concerning the Ravanna mission, and was now sitting in the Rec Room going over the details. It'd been kind of an oddball meeting, but it'd brought something to his attention. Despite his feelings about some in the participants and topics, Leonard had found himself... enjoying the exchange. Even the parts he'd been less thrilled about. He hadn't realized that since the Fake Out, he's been steadily becoming more isolated from the crew at large. Oh, he's seen plenty of patients since then. Had a visit or two with people outside of work. And of course, he couldn't forget the turbolift bullshit. That guaranteed a conversation with at least one live body each day. Usually of an animated, heated variety.
All those things, though, still had an element of isolation to them. And while he was naturally a one-on-one kinda guy, there was a dynamic you only got in a group. Something that said you existed as part of a whole, and could lose ourself for a bit in that whole. Instead of possibly just being a randomly occurring phenomena to a few lucky or unlucky souls.
So instead of climbing all the way back down to Sickbay to read his notes in his office, Leonard decided to roost in the Rec Room. Take in some of that group energy by osmosis, at least. Who knows? Maybe he'd catch a conversation that didn't involve turbolifts, diplomatic missions, weirdly convoluted relationships, or an injury. They say anything can happen in Space.
