Yet Another Random Turbolift, Day 41 (afternoon) - [private/unfinished]

May 28, 2010 18:49

Gaila had a theory that someone had set up yesterday's turbolift trap? Well then, Leonard just wasn't gonna take the damn things anymore.

Which explained why he was currently, dangerously close to an infarction. Shit, he thought he was in better shape than this.

Leonard finally reached the level the Science labs were on. He'd tried his ( Read more... )

David, for his part, was happily ignorant of both the doctor's mode of transportation and his inner feelings toward his person. But he did have a session to head to. So, recognizing the doctor from his file while walking down the hallway toward the turbolift, he nodded fractionally and gave his customary smile and went on his merry way.

He was waiting for the doors to close when the CMO came rushing up. He put his arm out to let the sensor know that a very enthusiastic medical doctor was barreling in and stepped aside to let the barreling commence.

"Everything okay?" he asked, a little worried by the frenzied look.

While running for the lift, Leonard had a brief but lively conversation with the nurse comming him. What she told him wasn't good. A kid from Security, helping to move equipment in Cargo Bay 1. Something gave and used him as a landing pad. The kid's spinal column was crushed. They'd already begun surgery on him, but had ran into some snags with the cord itself. That's where Leonard came in. One of his specialties being neurosurgery.

Fuck, he had to risk the lift. He needed to be there five minutes ago.

Thankfully, someone was holding the lift for him. He didn't make note of who. Hell, he barely made note of the back wall, slowing a little too late for a neat braking. Shouted at the computer, "Sickbay, emergency override!" Collected his wits and peeled himself off the wall as the lift sped off for the priority destination. So far, so good....

"Huh?" he asked belatedly, finally fully aware of his fellow passenger. Tinny.... again. "Oh, eh, sorry to hijack things. I'm needed in surgery STAT."

David couldn't help but widen his eyes and stare as he felt the energy in the small lift liven exponentially. He winced as the doctor's body skidded against the back of the lift. The computer reacted to the command promptly and, perhaps it was his heighten state, but David felt that perhaps the lift was moving more purposefully and quicker than before. Maybe it was by design ( ... )

... Who was staring at the control panel in disgusted disbelief. "No, no fu-- Just, no, goddamnit, not this time!" he yelled like the damn thing would actually listen to him. Like it hadn't for the past three nights. Christ, why now? It was one thing those nights where he hadn't been on shift. And even that one time with Gaila, when he had been but it'd been a slow morning without him around. This time, someone's life was on the line. Damnit!

"Lord, so help me..." In a panic, he grabbed his comm and tried using it as for as long as he'd have it. Got the nurse that'd just called him on the horn, began barking orders before she could get all her "Hello?" out. He didn't get any further than, "Tell Tyler ta use the sonic separator to--" before he was cut off. His comm, and likely Tinny's toys, were as good as dead.

Or as good as skipping stones as he threw the device at the turbolift doors. "Sonovafuckinbitch!" Normally, he didn't get that violent. Especially when it served no purpose ( ... )
