Day 23 - Medical Bay - [OPEN/INCOMPLETE]

Leave it be to a doe-eyed ensign to smile brightly at him and present a batch of homemade cookies -- Kirk had simply grinned at her, taking them and munching one of them, only realizing the cookies had walnuts in them after the swelling started. He knew well enough what it was -- had left Spock the bridge and hurried himself to the medical bay, ( Read more... )

Well. It wasn't really a typical day in the Enterprise's Sickbay unless the captain dropped by unexpectedly, now was it? Immediately moved to action by his 'help I'm dying again' flailing, Christine soon had her hand around the epidermal hypo that was almost guaranteed to do the trick.

Putting her hand on his back, she silently guided Kirk to the nearest bed, sat him down, and depressed the hypo against his neck. And then she quirked her eyebrows and asked, almost pleasantly, "What have you done now, captain?"

The wheezing stopped as soon as the hypo was jabbed into his neck, the hives going down slightly and the redness lingering only in his swollen face. Kirk knew well enough that he did not look his best, catching his breath before Chapel smiled, raising her eyebrows, and asked him what he'd done.

"Cookies. Had walnuts in 'em. Allergic." Kirk managed to string together with his slightly swollen tongue, relaxing back against the bed as he focused on breathing.

"The thing is, sir," Christine began, a little amused and a little gently patronizing, "You know you're allergic to walnuts. You are also the commanding officer of this vessel. It should be easy enough to ensure that the kitchen staff doesn't give you walnuts."

Swapping the hypo for a nearby tricorder, Christine watched the monitor readings on Kirk. His vitals were returning to normal at the anticipated rate, at least, which was always good to see. "Feeling better?"

"Cookies," Kirk noticed the swelling going down and glanced up at her rather tiredly, his heart racing a bit from the adrenaline shot. "They were from an ensign. Homemade and everything. I thought they were chocolate chips." Kirk wheezed slightly, grateful that things were seemingly getting back to normal.

"The kitchen staff knows I'm allergic to nuts. I don't really have to worry about that, usually." Kirk licked his lips. "Feeling much better."
