There were times, not long before the shift changes, when the ship was almost peaceful. And "peace" wasn't exactly something Christine had seen a lot of since the away team's return from Bacchus II. The number of unsafe sex practices she'd seen in the medical bay alone was cringe-worthy. So after a hot shower and a few hours of sleep, what she really needed right now was…

Well, just about anything other than a woman in a sheet on the floor.

Dear lord, what was this starship coming to?

Christine crossed the observation deck, coming to stand next to the vaguely familiar woman. The last time she'd seen the engineer had been… fascinating, to say the least. But Christine could recall the woman's name from an earlier encounter. "So, Ms. MacArthur," she said, keeping her tone somewhere between professional and amused, "is the floor really that comfortable?"

Cassie looked up at her. A new smell, a sweet smell. Cassie tried to scoot backwards. She didn't recognize the woman standing beside her and wasn't sure what she wanted. Cassie really didn't want to end up hurting her ( ... )

Christine watched the woman on the floor, noting her every helpless gesture and change in infliction. The girl wasn't well, no doubt about that, but it didn't seem to be anything anyone needed to worry about. Last she'd heard from the science department, the best cure was time. That was a bit of inconviece, but it's not like she had any say over sex spore habits.

"You had an adverse reaction to Doctor McCoy's serotonin inhibitors?" Christine asked, brow furrowing. When she'd finally finished decontamination in the shuttle bay, she'd made her way back to Sickbay, ready to help. One of the other nurses had told her about Leonard's hunch about the serotonin. "Did you tell someone?"

And as for the rest of MacArthur's statement... Anyone picking fights with either of those two men had to have in some low stage of mental awareness, or outright stupidity. That was another facet to keep filed away for later use.

Cassie sighed, "Didn't get a chance. Doc was going ... to come back and see me. But he never made it. Guess someone got to him somehow. One minute I ... I was ok. Then next minute chef and the doc .... landed on me hard." Cassie rubbed her stomach. It ws still feeling a bit tender.

"I think that ... the Commander ended up in the pile .. as well. I ... hurt some. Then all hell ... broke loose and the Doc and the chef legged it." she said, "Then it got ... too much for me and I left ... the sickbay and ended up here."
