I'm very sorry to hear about your Mom, though ... all my good thoughts to you. I'm grateful, at least, that there was a dignity and grace in her passing ...
May sound a bit strange, but I'm glad it went quickly. Only about two months from her first symptoms to her death (she hated the word "passing" or other euphemisms..."just call it what it is!"). Not only to not prolong her suffering, but for all of her loved ones as well...it wasn't a prolonged agony of just waiting.
Also, as I'm sure you can relate to, I also noticed that I could easily tell who else had lost a loved one and who hasn't yet, based on their reactions. While I know they meant well, some of the responses like "she'll make it through and beat this!" felt hollow. The best responses, in my opinion, were simply "I'm so sorry"

That was nearly 10 years ago, now, and I still think of her almost daily ...
