Who: Cain, OPEN What: Coma-bound, Cain sleeps until his body is ready to function properly. Where: The infirmary When: roughly a day after he was killed Warnings: None
She previously had told herself that she would pay Cain a visit after his recovery. Somewhere along the way, though, being stricken with the guilt of being one of the last people to see him before any of this happened, as well as for other slightly-more-personal reasons, Mirys changed her mind and sought to see if visitation would be allowed.
She wouldn't be surprised if she were turned away, however, since it was just so soon after the fact, but she felt like she had to at least try to show some kind of support after what she had learned before.
The orderly that was watching the recovery zone looked up from his book. "Earl Hargreaves be sleepin' the deep sleep, if ye catch me word," he said, and rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Th'Doc says e'll be out f'three days, aye, but if'n ye want te keep 'im wit an' word, be m'guest, li'l lady. Jus' dun cough on 'im aye."
Immune system temporary deficiency and lack of proper English aside, there was no problem with her being admitted to see him. Of course, he would likely not see her.
"Three days," the Force repeated quietly, her tone strangely devoid of any of the usual irritability and instead suggesting what almost seemed to be concern. "Yeah, I'll make sure I don't."
Once inside, she found a chair and sat down, looking to the still form on the bed-or was it a table? She briefly contemplated what sort of effect the Resta or Reverser Techniques would have on someone in this state, but knew that interfering in the doctor's work-even with good intentions-was not the best of ideas; for now she would just have to sit and wait like anybody else, and wonder what she would do or say when he finally came back.
She had a feeling that the first thing she would do was apologize, even if she couldn't have known any of this would happen.
The slow rise and fall of his recently-stitched-up chest cavity was the only response Cain made to her presence. If he were aware, he'd certainly have thanked her for coming to see him, but he was barely half a step away from dead as it was.
His lips parted slightly, and he breathed out slowly. Then it was back to normal rhythm.
Upon hearing Cain had indeed survived being shot, Victoria ceased the depressing vigil she had been keeping since the incident and summoned up the courage to visit the young nobleman. Of course, her reasons for wanting to see Cain were quite selfish, most of Victoria's actions were, but she also harbored real feelings for the Earl of Poisons.
Cain was very still. He breathed shallowly, and his heart rate was steady, but he was not there any more than his sister was there in her pod. The orderly said something about immune system deficiency and if-you-are-sick-then-go-away, but there were no ropes cutting off the entrance to the recovery zone.
Cain was in the second bed of four, the first being occupied by a still-recovering Meteo Spiderbeam-shaped body cast.
Victoria slowly walked over to Cain's bed, carefully taking in his unconscious form with her eyes. The mere sight of Cain breathing was enough to lift the ill thoughts that had weigh on Victoria's mind for some time now.
Now,for the time being, Victoria pulled up a spare chair and sat it the foot of Cain's bed and sat down. Though the outside world would never know it, she was making sure the present moment was real and not some teasing dream.
