CIVILIAN LIFE:

Q1. Name: Molly

Q2. How did you find out about Elite of the Fleet? Through rotae, of course.

Q3. When did you first become interested in Star Trek? This fall, actually. I know, it was a 'jump on the bandwagon' type of recruitment to the fandom, and I did show up to the party pretty late. I was traveling abroad when the movie released ( Read more... )

It's interesting. I think you've become a good communicator specifically because you're an introverted person. You've learnt how to talk to people, to make them laugh, because you feel that being introverted is something you'd like to... overcome? You answer to question 8 gave the most insight into this, I think.

You want to create strong, unbreakable friendships and mean something to other people and yet every fibre of your being is telling you to stay in your shell.

I think it's very, very admirable that you've made the conscious decision to go against that feeling and step up to the plate.

I'm going to place you in Operations for a variety of reasons, but particularly because I think that this track would be good for you. It requires passion, and personality and has a great sense of community, all of which I see in you ( ... )

Thank god I'm not the only one that jumped the XI bandwagon!

Operations, hands down. I thought it right back at being involved in such a loving, active and fun community has had a deep impact on my life, and the rest of the application only confirmed the choice. Like this: I enjoy the sense of belonging gained from being involved in a group or community; the camaraderie, support, and guidance that can be derived from a set of individuals all coming together for a specific purpose.

I think your lack of interest in the Exploratory Sciences is pretty clear, but I do think you'd be quite good in Tactics as well, considering your values and approach to life. That said, I'm sticking with Operations - all your strengths and weaknesses click with that track perfectly (with the possible exception of shyness, but I get the feeling that even though interaction scares you, you get a great deal of personal satisfaction from it).

The Operations crew will love you, and you them. :)

The standout quality of this application was importance, and in two aspects. The first is in prioritizing. You repeatedly mention delegation, sorting, cataloging, lists. Your focus there is on the flow and order of information to determine what is most important. The second is in esteem and ego. You dislike Rand because she doesn't stand out; your biggest fear is "to not matter". To you, that's a fairly heinous thing, being part of the crowd, unobtrusive and quiet. That's what kept me away from Ops. While you can and will work within the group, it's not your biggest draw.

This focus on importance, both in an organizational and in a personal sense, is heavily tied up with duty and responsibility. I was leaning to Medical first, and I think you'd be comfortable there, but I'm more convinced that Tactics would be a better place for you. There's less of an interpersonal emphasis and more of a personal focus. What ultimately tipped me, though, was your Q4. Not because of the sense of community, or because of interactions with others, not ( ... )

it's really too bad it had to take a shiny, visually glorious blockbuster movie with loads of cute boys just to get me initially intrigued
Really? Because it doesn't sound like such a bad idea. ;)

I'm trying to...ration my intake? It doesn't make me an expert in the least but this way there is always something new to look forward to.
How reserved of you.

In your debate between Spock and McCoy being your favorite you note that you value Spock, more of less, for his quick thinking and resourcefulness over being taken over by emotions and expending unnecessary effort.

Say, a paper must be at least 2000 words, but I can get it done well in 1500 and then must do my best to expand without becoming repetitive or adding superfluous statementsHello, BFF. I mean, you can't tell it so far since your only evidence is that I just blab forever in people's comment areas and my own ridiculously long application, but when I'm being srs biz about writing and not conversationally analyzing every keystroke you've kept in your application, I love being ( ... )

Ooooh it appears I'm the tiebreaker. While I absolutely see where the Operations votes are coming from, and I would have no problem having you on my track, I personally hadn't even finished reading your app before I knew I was going to vote Tactical. (And then I finished reading and it just solidified my answer ( ... )
