Me too! ^.^ Although I haven't actually talked to many Americans about this. I think the differences in foreign policy were a large part of the reason why all the Brits I've spoken to wanted Obama. One girl in my class voted, since she's half American and has dual nationality. ^.^

McCain used to talk like a reasonable human being, someone I might have voted for, but I have no idea what happened to him during this campaign. He's not even the same person. BUT THIS IS NOW IRRELEVANT :DDDDDDD

Unfortunately, it's not like racism ended with this election. We had an incident at school today where someone spray painted KKK and racial slurs all over one of our tunnels. And hello, slavery ended 140 years ago FOR GOOD REASON. It's truly frightening to me that people can hate over something so arbitrary, and even more so that educated human beings think racism is perfectly rational and justifiable.

*flail* Even though it's not perfect, I just so happy. I get all tingly when I think about it. I didn't vote for him because he's African American, but I am SO HAPPY that didn't stop (enough) other people. :D

Wow, this comment is longer than your entry. Uh, sorry about that. My roommate voted McCain and my glee has been repressed to avoid conflict with her.

OMO, really? WOW. I still can't believe people would do that. The people I live with have said the similar thing. They said that if Obama becomes president, the African American would want more power and they would do everything they want. And I was like WHAT? I think they live in a really, i mean REALLy, old fashioned life. Thinking that who you are when you're born is who you are when you die, like if you're born a slave you will always be a slave, kind of thing.

I really didn't get really into the debate or the campaign, but I still hoped for Obama. ^^

Whoa, I just realized I need to rephrase something. I did vote Obama, but the reason had NOTHING to do with race. I think it's awesome we'll have a non-white president, but skin color isn't going to be a factor in gaining or losing my vote.

"Old fashioned" is a nice way of putting it. These people using the term "slaves" are just idiots; besides the obvious societal wrongness of slavery, none of them were alive in the 1850s and it makes no sense that they'd be nostalgic for something they never had. ARGH, PEOPLE.

I'm really happy that Obama won. ^^

The black people are not supposed to be slaves in the first place. God created us equally to this world.

Now let see whether Obama can turn the bankrupt country around.
