float like a butterfly...

so, it was fencing tonight, like every tuesday. and as always, i generally get more than my fair share of marks on the lifetime "learn something new every day" tally.

lesson the first: a good coach always knows how to motivate. )

Foil!
It's not a real sword!!!!!!!

Sorry, had to get that off my chest. It's not though, it isn't, it isn't!

I-pod saving would nto motivate me I'm afraid. Well actually it would in a way since it would encourage me to hack as if my very life depended upon it (saburer after all) since I have some pent up agression toward Mac's after my degree.

Peop[le give you crap for fencing Epee? That's a respectable weapon! I hope these aren't foilists who are harassing you? Tell them to pick up a REAL sword, not a pointer with delusions of granduer!
The Epee at least is descended from a real killing blade. The Foil is, and always has been, a practice weapon.

You can Fleche in sabre...sought of. I wouldn't say it's a comon tactic, but occassionally using a sabre like a epee can catch an opponent off guard (people forget you can score point hits with a sabre, not just edge hits, particulalrly if Sabre is all they ever fenced). Well that's what I have noticed in my limited experince!

yes!! foilists harassing me!

perhaps i can start calling them the practice squad! hehehehe.

interesting news re: fleche and sabre. i never would have thought, although it makes sense now that you say it. fleche is VERY good for catching people off guard. *g*

Sorry I missed you last night. So inconsiderate of The Husband to ruin my sleep with his illness! I'm glad you had a good lesson. When people tease you about your epee, point to Uma and her TV antenna swordsmanship. ;)

CuteFoilBoy is very cute. And well named, apparently.

i was sorry i had to miss you, too. rolled in to the club at around 8:15ish, warmed up for a bit, had lesson, etc. the foil kids went late. there were quite a few still there at 9p!

and CFB is freakin hilarious. bwa! it's fun to pretend like you have a younger brother once in a while. ;)

and re: epee teasing... when you fence on foil nights, it's to be expected, i suppose... sorta outnumbered. and my kung fu isn't up to uma level. *g*
