Swedish tradition

Semlor! Semlor! Give me lots of semlor!

Soooo....yesterday was the national 'Fettisdagen'  or Fat Thuesday (true name!) in Sweden in which it is traditonal to eat 'semlor'. A semla is a traditional Swedish pastry. Mmmmm...I want one!

In the North of England they have something similar but filled with jam instead of almond paste. Have never eaten it in the south of England though. Must be the Viking influence.

I'm Polish, so we call them Paczki (pronounced poonch key), and they are typically filled with flavored jelly or custard.

3??? It takes me all day to even eat one! Of course, that wasn't always the case, which is probably one of the reasons I'm now overweight.

I didn't eat three in a row, there were a couple of hours in between....and I didn't feel so good after the last one.
I have problems keeping my weight *up* now a days, and although pastry might not be what a doctor would recomend *shrugs* I'll eat them anyway!
