Farming challenge - how do YOUR sims survive?

OK, so I'm about to embark on my own little twisted version of the farming challenge. But before I start I'm trying to figure out how my sim is going to survive. Because the rules state "no food may be bought, you can only use food that you have harvested". Which means food from the fridge is a no no and they can't order take away. So how do they

I get the feeling this sim is going to have a gold fishing badge before she harvests the first crop.

Is fishing allowed in the farming challenge? That seems a workable way around starvation for a few days.

I'm using the amended rules as set out by ferretsims so mine can fish. I'm thinking that fish will have to be the main source of food for a few days.

PS: I did notice that Nett and I pretty much posted at the exact same time, saying the exact same thing. But... FISH!

I used fish; all of my farming family have silver/gold badges but only the parents have gold in gardening; there aren't enough crops for everybody to help out!

I think it only makes sense that they can fish....I mean they did do that in the olden days....lol....
I'm going to start this as well Engram and post it at the forum,..I needed something new to get me back in to the game.
