The middle child.
That's all she'll ever be.
Not the oldest, not the youngest.
The one right in the middle.
She's not the prettiest.
She's not the tallest.
But she's the reddest.
Reddest of all her siblings.
But she's not the reddest of all her cousins.
There's Rose. And Lily.
And then, there's her.
She's not the most outrageous. That honour goes to Rose.
She's not the girliest. Lily has decided she is.
She's not the most graceful. Because everyone knows that's Perfect Victoire.
She's not the most tomboyish. That's Roxy, with all her dad's toys and her Quidditch obsession.
She's not the cleverest. There's Molly for that.
She's not even the wierdest. That prize is for Lucy and her Nargles to take.
If anything, she's the average one: not too clever, not too pretty, yet not stupid or ugly (because even she admits that she has inherited at least a trace of her Maman's Veela genes).
And she supposes that's all she'll ever be, in this whirlwind of many talents she, and everyone, calls family.
Just average.
Dominique the Average.
She snorts at her thought, her mind running through names of notorious rulers throughout history, smirking as each name brought outrageousness to mind. If there was one family that would make note of normalcy, it was hers. If there was one family that would give a member a name for mediocrity, it was hers. And maybe, for that, she has managed to stand out from the overwhelming crowd that is the Weasleys. Maybe she has distinguished herself in the multitude of redheads, if only for a trivial reason such as being normal, being regular in normal Wizarding society, being right in the middle in the heart of society rather than at the head. After all, unless you properly saw the abundance of freckles on her cheeks, unless you turned her bright pink hair back to the original red it was, unless you figured out that she's not Dominique Wood but Dominique Weasley, she was just another Quidditch player's wife, just another average witch.
Just average.
