Greetings!

Jan 09, 2009 15:01

This area is...quite different than what I am accustomed to. I am having difficulties adjusting to the usage of the United States customary system (It is so odd. Twelve inches to a foot? Sixteen ounces to a pound? The metric system is far easier.), driving on the right portion of the road, the lack of farmland...I believe it will take me a good ( Read more... )

Haha, you sound like one of my professors, Mr. Bryce. Nice to meet you, though, and welcome to the team!

I'm Beatrice Smythe, team runner and spy. And I'm sure you'll get the hang of things! You seem like a smart guy.

It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Beatrice.

I merely require a little bit of time to 'get the hang of things'. I am sure that I will receive assistance as well, if I ever needed it; everyone I have met so far has been very kind.

We try! You're a teammate, you're family.

And you can call me Bea.

I believe I will enjoy living here, with such kind teammates.

I will attempt to remember that, my dear.

I thought I heard that we got a new scientist around!

Don't worry about the system! It's all metric in the labs, obviously. How can anyone be precise about anything when you work with inches?

You get used to the American way of doing things pretty quickly, though! A-at least from my own experience.

Oh, and I'm Jackie! Um, whatever you might've heard about me, it's probably just all them poking fun at me.

Hello!

Oh, that is a relief to hear; I always had difficulties converting measurements in any system besides metric. There is simply no uniformity to the system in this country! So many different numbers to remember...

You are from another country as well? I was informed that I would not be the sole non-American present.

I actually have not heard any rumors about you, though rest assured, any I do happen to hear will be taken with a grain of salt.

Oh, we're from all around, as far as I know. I grew up in Japan. So many things that are just so different, but in a good way! Or sometimes in good ways. Broadening my horizons and everything like that~!

Good. I mean, I don't mind when they say things like that most of the time, but I just don't want to come off as a kind of incompetent. I mean...I mean some of the things I make are dangerous, and some of them tend to not work at 100%, but everything that isn't thoroughly tested out will do that! So I'm not a-a butterfingers or anything.

Do you need any help getting acquainted with the labs?

Ah, Japan! You are quite a long way from home, then, aren't you? The diversity here will more than likely prove quite refreshing; I never ventured out of Wales until I agreed to the Process.

Do you happen to know of any fellow Welshmen that reside here, by chance?

Why, that is ridiculous! Even if the results do not turn out as planned, it is still a learning opportunity! I always enjoyed finding out what changes needed to be made to produce the desired results.

If you would be so kind?

Glad to have you! It's been a while since we got a new guy around.

I'm Eve, or Mirage, as they call me around here.

And I've lived here all my life and I still don't understand some of the measurements, if that makes you feel any better.
