that's what i was told, too.

lupron = hell until you can get hormone replacement therapy, even then i've struggled a lot with my treatment. i'm 4 months in if you have any questions, best of luck :|

thanks! I am only doing three months worth.. but so far I am dying. This increase in pain has led to some of the worst pain I have ever had.. I want to die.

i'm sure the mirena is fine to use while on lupron as birth control. the hormones are supposed to be central to your uterus so i'm assuming it's ok.

i had hot flashes, migraines and felt nauseated in the mornings. i was also in my pscyho relationship at the time, so that may have been part of it.... it can take up to 4 weeks for side effects to disappear sometimes, so you might need to do two shots... i also experienced depression but once again that could have been because of psycho ex;)

I am still waiting to hera back from my doc on the IUD but at this point the pain has gotten so bad I would let him touch me with a ten foot pole (actually it feels like there is a pole in my pelvis.. oh my I dont want to end up in the ER.

My side effects are mostly sedation (although not at the moment) and hotflashes and nausea.. what did you do about the side effects? How long were you on Lupron?
Hope you are ok!

I'm not sure as since the Mirena is progesterone only. However you could consider a copper IUD.

However overall the current contraception of the Mirena (or any IUD) is the IUD itself. The progesterone part is a minor component.

I am still waiting for the verdict on that from the doctor.

Now I know a lot of people have been miserable on Lupron and I thought for sure I'd be one of them but I've been fine with the exception of hot flashes and feeling very sedated on the day of the injection. I find injection day to be the worst day of the month. I felt better by the end of the first month.

I'm on my 3d round of lupron injections in 4 years. When was your first? It's strange that you started having side effects so fast- usually they don't kick in till a month or 2 after the first shot. Sorry about that. For me, the day I have the shot I feel weazy and dizzy for a few hours then I am fine. I have hot flashes but in comparison to debilitating pain, I'll take the flashes. It's not a permanant solution but right now it's the only thing that controls the pain. It sucks but your doc is right to try anything before more surgery (I've had 4 = 2 laparotomies and 2 laparoscopies). Surgery can be as ineffective as drug therapy- in a shorter amount of time. Take care.
