I think you should keep your appointment and see what the doctor is like, see if you like him/her. You can see have an exam even on your period (some people don't mind/some do), but the doctor can still do what needs to be done. Explain your family history. It's can be hard to steer them towards a specific test you want, try not to sound like you want it really bad. I would think with the history of PCO that they would check for it though. Explain everything you've gone through, and that pills aren't working. A good thing to do is make a list before you go, that way you won't forget what you want to say (I know I always do). I kept my appointment. I didn't get a good feeling from her. I explained my symptoms and without a prompt she mentioned endo but didn't try to check for it. We tried to do a pelvic exam but I was in too much pain for it. She wasn't worried about it, upped my BCP dosage and said she'd see me in three months.
I will definitely check out the book. I was waiting for a more definite answer as to whether I have it but I think I may go ahead and get it.
My father sounds similar to yours so raising a kid on my own sounded better anyway. I'm going to try to worry less about that part and just focus on getting a Dr./specialist, get tests or a lap done if needed, then seeing what my options and alternatives are. Once I know where I am, I'll be better at trying to plan where I'm going, I guess.
Thank you so much the reply. I appreciate it.
