Adenomyosis

Hello.  I haven't posted here in a long while, but I had surgery in July with Dr. S at the CEC in Atlanta.   He cleared up all my endo, and removed 2 tumors, a cyst, and my appendix.  Since then I have had no endo pain whatsoever - I am so in tune with my body these days that I can easily tell what was endo pain and what wasn't.

But, he said he ( Read more... )

I had adeno and your symptoms sound very similar to mine. My "endo" pain was also generally localized right to my uterus, and lasted almost all month. I'd also have extremely long periods in addition to them being heavy. I did end up having a hysterectomy for mine.

i can't give you input on adeno, but i have known several women who have NOT had children who got the Mirena, and have had no issues whatsoever. i use lo-estrol, but that's my preference and it's not for BC. i hope you find something that works for you, and that your pain and symptoms improve.

The risk of having your uterus perforated by an IUD is really extremely tiny. The more common problem with IUDs in women who have never given birth is that you are more likely to expel the IUD than someone who has had a vaginal delivery. iud_divas is a great resource if you want to find out more from women who have the Mirena (I have the non-hormonal IUD).

Yes, the risk is with the expulsion, not with perforation, and also that they're harder to insert if the cervix has never dilated on its own.

But the IUD was the best thing ever. I had two of them, both times my body ended up rejecting it, but while it was in, oh my god, i had my life back and it was wonderful. I cried for two weeks after I lost the last one.

And yes, I also have suspected adeno, and my symptoms more or less mirror yours.

all those symptoms sound like me. i'm gearing up on writing a period post, which the short of is that i was tutoring today (i am an in-home tutor), wearing the always SUPER DUPER PURPLE OVERNIGHT pads. and i still bled all over myself and the chair.

and this is day. fucking. six. i was mortified.

i haven't much looked at adenomyosis.

also, i am thinking of going to the cec (i'm in cola sc) when we get some $$ saved up.

Sounds like the symptoms I had, but I didn't find out I had adenomyosis until after my hysterectomy.
