Ruby had been ditched by her date for his boyfriend the almost second Harry had made an appearance, but Ruby was really beyond caring. She was in, but so far, she couldn't see the target she was looking for. So she was keeping to the walls, trying not to draw too much attention.
The last thing she needed was one of these pimple faced losers asking her to dance.
Unfortunately, her plan of keeping to herself wasn't going exactly to plan. Mohinder had no intention of asking her to dance, of course, lest he make Samantha jealous, but he did plan on being just as much a wallflower as Ruby until his date came back from ... where ever she'd wandered off to. He supposed she'd seen someone she knew and had gone off to say hello and compare fashion. He also supposed that he could at least make small talk with Ruby -- mostly because last time he checked, he couldn't remember seeing her in any of his classes.
"I don't think I've seen you at the school before ... "
"Ah, I see." He seemed to remember Cas getting kicked out -- or was it dropping out? -- but perhaps he'd been wrong. He'd never particularly kept up with the social circles Cas had involved himself in, after all, so it was a distinct possibility. "Well ... welcome to West High, I suppose."
"Troubles with your date?" He glances towards Cas again, then back to her, looking vaguely embarrassed. "I'm sorry. That was rude of me and quite possibly none of my business. Forget I said anything."
"He's in love with another man," Ruby smirked. Yes, Cas, this is Ruby blaring your business all over the prom. "He only brought me because his boyfriend already had a date."
... It's not really the entire truth, but she figured it was truth enough.
"I'm no homophobe." He just wasn't used to people being openly gay. There were a few people around the school there were, of course, but well, different social circles. And back home, and according to his father, people kept that sort of thing to themselves. "I'm just ... not used to it, I suppose."
"Well, as I said -- better get used to it, or people are going to get the wrong idea." Secrets were good when you're a demon playing a game, but not so much with humanity. Repression was the food of sin -- but apparently the church still hadn't figured that out yet.
He was silent for a moment, sinking back into something nearing vague discomfort, and then glanced away. "I should likely try and track down my date before she starts think I've abandoned her. It was nice meeting you."

And she points out Cas. She knew he wasn't impressive, but what can a girl do.

"You know, this is the twenty-first century, big guy. You better get with the times if you don't want to be labelled a homophobe."
