Vampire Diaries: The Return: Nightfall: Attack of the Colons!

So I finished Vampire Diaries: The Return: Nightfall, which has possibly the longest title in the history of young adult books. Now, I've been an LJ Smith fan since I was in middle school, so I was pretty excited when I found out that this had been released (*cough* even though I *just* found this out, as I had long mistaken it for a reprint of one ( Read more... )

Sadly, most of the issues you've listed with the books can be found in 99% of romantic paranormal series (for both the YA and adult market).

The mythology blender never ceases to annoy the shit out of me, it's like "HEY, I GOT THESE AWESOME MYTHOLOGY BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY SO NOW VAMPIRES ARE FIGHTING WEREWOLVES AND DIMENSION-JUMPING ANGELS AND GREEK GODS AND KAPPAS AND THE RAINBOW SERPENT" all in under 400 pages. This could not be annoying or confusing at all!

haha, really? I haven't read much romance or YA in a while, so I'm not really familiar with them anymore. But this all over the place stuff really threw me coming for LJ, cause she basically writes the same book over and over again with different characters x3 So it's like with this one she just exploded all over the pages.

Uggggh, it IS really annoying. JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE COOL AND SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO USE THEM ALL AT ONCE. Restraint, people!

LOL, I actually like Nightfall A LOT more than any of the books in the first VD series. 8D It felt less childish to me, was more engaging, better written and made me a massive Bonnie/Damon fan, so. :9

Really? Haha, well it's definitely less childish. The original VD really failed in that dept u.u I guess I'm just getting book-crabby in my ye olde age T_T

I am really glad she's publishing again though x3 Can't wait for Strange Fate.

LOL I have a nervous anticipation for Strange Fate - I have an overwhelming feeling that I am going to feel about it the same way you feel about Nightfall. :x

I didn't read Nightfall yet, but I heard lots of bad things about it. Despite its flaws... I absolutely adored the original series and I hope the new book is not as bad as everyone's saying. I did read the Shadow Souls teaser and I liked it... a lot. I'm a huge DamonxElena fangirl, so when I read that I was like, yay!
