Do you see these things as you write them? You're one of the few people I know who can create an entire setting in a few sentences, and then keep it consistent while adding to the marvels as the scene progresses. I'm going to be haunted by memories of airships and Nephele now - I shall add them to the tin mine and the elemental rooms in Ireland...
Yes, it tends to be mostly visual. Oddly, I tend not to put in too many visual descriptions of characters, but if you asked me "what does X look like?" I'd probably be able to tell you. That may have to be my next challenge, actually- the next one hour fic I do shall have to involve describing a character's appearance in some details.
