August 15, 1962: The United States coerces Netherlands to sign the "New York Agreement" selling colony of West Papua to Indonesia. The United Nations had been paid $200m via bonds to lend its name to the sale of West Papuans to Indonesian control beginning 1/May/1963 and declaring the colony a restricted military operational zone 5/Sep/1963; in 1967 General Suharto sells a 30 year license to mine West Papua's mineral wealth to Freeport Copper and Gold Inc. (U.S.A.)
Over 300,000 have been killed by Indonesian militia while one million peasants have been shipped from Java to re-populate Papua as part of Indonesia. In 2004 Yale Law School publishes "Indonesian Human Rights Abuses in West Papua: Application of the Law of Genocide to the History of Indonesian Control"
In 2005 the US Congress writes Section 1115 asking about the genocide and Indonesian claim of sovereignty; the US Indonesia Society lobby funded by Freeport and Bechtel petitions the US Senate to remove Section 1115 questions from the US Foreign Relations bill.
