Koyama loves everyone. He wants to love everyone, because he’s positive everyone is loveable in some way. There are just certain people a little more difficult to love. As a result, Koyama simply invests more time in them.
But take Ryo, for example. In the beginning, Ryo seemed like the classic type of jerk. He was mean and he refused to like Koyama. They were put in one group together too. So Koyama did his very very best to love Ryo and make Ryo like him. All for loving the world, all for member ai.
The problem with Ryo was, he thinks looking back, that he wasn’t that jerk. The time and love was over-invested and that’s, that’s he realises now, the reason his motives changed halfway through and he didn’t make the extra effort anymore because he loved Ryo too little, but because he loved him too much.
Koyama loves Ryo for no reason but that he’s Ryo, and he loves him fully for it.

Ryo hadn’t wanted to love Koyama at all. There were some people (immediate family comes to mind) very important to him, but he thought it silly to go and like random people just because they wanted to like and be liked.
Koyama moved around, on stage and through his mind, like a sort of vague sparkly blur.
The more time passed, the more persistent the blur got, though. He could finally name all his bandmates now, anyway, but Koyama seemed to be in his face all the time. It wasn’t that the other man wanted his attention, exactly, it was just that he gave Ryo attention. Lots of attention. Constant fucking attention.
Ryo liked attention - on itself.
Ryo didn’t just go and love Koyama, out of nowhere, like nothing. He hadn’t decided anything. Suddenly the sparkly blur had turned into that bright sparkly smile right in his face and Koyama had wriggled his way into the ranks of people very important to him, without Ryo even realizing it.
He’d simply been overpowered.
