Oh, that's beautiful and painful and sharp. Loved it.

Oww, painful. Especially how House punishes himself in the *exact* same way his father used to punish him. *winces*

I never noticed that - thanks for pointing it out :) That explains Wilson's Mom-act, getting him out of the bath and clearing up his mess in the kitchen.

You know what's funny? I hadn't even thought about that. I'd love to say it was my subconscious, but more likely it was just an accident. =p It's such a classic breakdown scenario, really, but the harkening back to childhood history adds an additional layer of angst. X____x

The ice bath -- just the thought that House would punish himself in the same way his father used to do so makes me shiver. >.< It's quite the unsavory thought, but it's just that which makes it so sharp and quick to cut. Brava.

I actually unintentionally wrote it that way... ;;^^ It very much does work, of course. =3

Loved this.

Not much else to say except it was very touching and revealed that softer, more caring side of House that we rarely see.

And of course Wilson was there to "pick up the pieces."

Thanks! =) I really wanted to try something of a coda to a patient case. Watching "Autopsy" also made me think about how House interacts with kids.

Thanks again!

This was ana mazing piece of work. Though it doesn't excuse anything House does to the people or items around him, or his own self, I do sympathize and to an extent empathize with he does when something as devastating as this occurs.
I also liked how Wilson understood why House did what he did, and that he does see underneath House's harsh exterior and finds a really flawed and broken person (with an emphasis on "person"). Of course House is a vindictive bastard, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve some moments of understanding and care that Wilson will give him.
Wow. This is already really wordy, so .... Great fic!
