I've really enjoyed reading all your POTC stuff ( I had a nose around your websire :D ) and I must say it's no different this time. A interesting look into how Elizabeth would be feeling

Thank you so much. =) I've been wondering a lot lately about the main characters since the many discoveries in DMC. =) I don't know why, but this ficlet popped into my head and insisted to be written.

(Hey, first gen fic for the fandom. ^_~) Glad you enjoyed!

A friend sent to to your PotC work and I am so glad she did! I wondered after the movie if Elizabeth wasn't having these types of thoughts, and you illustrated them beautifully here. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your kind words. ^___^ I've been wondering about Elizabeth's role and her emotional state. I think it's interesting her conflicting opinions regarding pirates... and men in general. (lol!) Just wish some more people would look into that and post their analysis on such.

Much as I'd like to hate her character, I can't. I'm more sorry that her characterization seems to have been raped by the movie's portrayal, than anything else. There's a lot of explanation trying to be squared with in fandom; some of it is thoughtful, like this, trying to resolve canon with ... well, prior canon. Some other chucks out prior canon altogether and has turned Elizabeth into a completely callous, cold-blooded bitch with nobody's interests at heart but her own.

I like your icon. ^_~ I have some movies to watch so maybe I'll do some icon-making soon... =p

It's so much more upsetting with TPTB bastardize their own characters than it is when fanfic authors do it, huh? It's what eventually sent me on my way in Stargate SG-1. I'm too desperately in love with The Dead Zone to shuck it yet.

resolve canon with ... well, prior canon
Which is, of course, why I love reading through the discussions you prompt. *g*

Which is, of course, why I love reading through the discussions you promptWell, how do you like this for reaching: It was about 3 am and my brain isn't all it CAN be at that point, so I fully accept this may be me talking out of my ass, LOL. But it occurred to me, what if Jack has no real desire for Elizabeth for herself, but rather, for what she represents as Will's fiancee ( ... )

Someone used something like that in a post-DMC story... Oh! I think it was elfinessy in "What Cost Forgiveness." I think it's a rather interesting take that could work out....

Lizzie's too ruthless to be a proper "replacement" - she's more Barbossa

I think that's a hoot but also so true. She very much lives up to the "take what you want, give nothing back" motto. And I love your hunting dog metaphor. lol. ("obfuscate"! I love that word! Whee!)

Normally, I would say the writers of a story have final say over what their characters want or are thinking. In this case, even though the writers have basically said that Jack wants Elizabeth, I can't buy it - the actor's performance does not bear that out adequately, and I am more willing to acknowledge Johnny Depp as the owner of Jack Sparrow than Disney, Ted, Terry, or anyone else. *shrug*My thoughts exactly. As it's been told, it was Johnny Depp who made Jack ( ... )

Lovely work! Yet again!

You know, others have tried to explain it to me, but I still don't get it; why on EARTH did she say she wasn't sorry for chaining him to the mast?

I realize he was trying to run off on them and leave them to the fate of the Kracken, but he returned and saved the day... eventually... I just didn't understand why she said she wasn't sorry!!!!

Any thoughts?

Umm.... she's nuts? XD j/k. More seriously I think it's just a denial of the guilt she's feeling. She's "trying to be strong in the face of doing something difficult." =P not that I find that all too satisfying... *shrugs*
