I found Fantastic Beasts...quite thrilling!

Nov 22, 2016 22:38

Last month, I made plans to see Fantastic Beasts with a couple co-workers, and I saw no reason to break our plans, just because we're no longer co-workers. We met up at local restaurant for dinner first, then the three of us made our way downtown to the theater. We picked this date, because it avoided the opening-night crazies, and it was cheap ( Read more... )

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who was surprised to see Graves was actually Grindelwald in disguise! The niffler and the bowtruckle were so adorable <333 I did e same thing, going to the film with pretty much no preconceived conceptions of the story other than what was showed in the trailers.

In retrospect, we should have suspected, because he gave Credence a Deathly Hallows symbol to contact him with.

D'oh!

I agree. I did recognize the DH symbol, but it never occurred to me that Graves was actually Grindelwald.

First half had its cute moments, but overall I found it a bit childish and boring. Second half was so much darker and better.

I really loved Queenie and Jacob.❤ The Grindelwald plottwist took me off guard--Johnny Depp looked amazing.

You know, that's how most of the HP movies went, though. They'd start out all cutesy and kid-friendly, and then BAM! Someone would try to kill Harry.

My GF said the same thing. She said to her, the first half was like watching National Geographic. LOL

Aww, so happy you enjoyed the movie! I can't say I appreciated it that much, but anyway.

The Niffler was hilarious. I legit laughed at the bit when he tries to be smooth in the jewellery store after Newt spots him. LOL.

OMGodric, that scene where the Niffler was trying to pose in the jewelry store window...hilarious!

I anticipated Newt and Jacob mixing up their suitcases from a mile away, so no surprise there.

Yeah totally.

Glad you enjoyed it.

It was still a fun part of the plot, even though it wasn't surprising. I loved their expressions when they opened his case at their Ministry of Magic!

Oh, I hear ya on that. It's why I was glad we'd already agreed to go on "cheap" night. The ticket was just $5, and I didn't bother with any concessions.
