I'm sure most of you don't know, and probably fewer of you care, but the US hockey team won gold at the World Junior Championships today. We don't normally fare well in this tournament, so this is a major accomplishment. I can't wait to see these young men in the NHL. Heck, I can't wait to see the frickin' NHL! *laments lockout

I blame the owners, more than anyone else. The last lockout, they finally got their wish for a salary cap, and they still f*cked it up.

And really? I also blame the lack of exposure in the US. Hockey is an amazing sport, and it's still the forgotten stepchild among US fans/viewers. The NBA has a similar number of teams, and they play in the same arenas as the NHL, yet the NBA is making money hand over fist. START MARKETING THE HELL OUT OF HOCKEY IN THE US!

Man, Canada's defense was not that good for most of the tournament, but these last two games were the ones that really mattered.
