I prayed to Buddha for patience before addressing Cal. "Money isn't everything, little brother."
"So says the guy with the wealthy lady friend."
I set down the knife I was sharpening and stood up. "If you wanted to spar, Cal, you could have simply asked me."
His eyes widened. "Shit, Nik, I was only joking."
I advanced a step. "Blades or bare hands?"
He scrambled off the couch, grabbing his phone as he did so. "I need to call Robin back," he said before retreating to his bedroom.
Peace and quiet. Finally.
