Verbal sparring with Cal was almost as entertaining as actual sparring. I lifted one of my knives and looked down the edge of the blade. It needed more work. "Take up stripping," I suggested.
"I can't dance, asshole."
"The patrons won't care."
"Yeah? Where should I apply?" Cal grumped. "The club where Delilah used to bounce?"
Cal's ex was the undisputed Queen of the Wolves in New York; she no longer needed to work. It didn't matter. I didn't want him anywhere near her old haunt.
"I wouldn't recommend it," I said, giving Cal the full weight of my stare.
