"Thought I'd find ya up here." Dee joined his partner at the brick wall on the roof of their precinct building.
Ryo didn't turn at Dee's approach. Instead he sighed and said, "Yeah. I just needed to escape for a moment."
Dee didn't have to ask why. Their latest case had been a tough one, and it had not ended well. It was times like these that made Dee question his decision to become a cop. He shifted closer to Ryo, bumping their shoulders together.
"Thanks, Dee."
"For what?"
"For not saying something trite. For understanding. For just being here."
