"Nervous?" Charlie squeaked. "I'm not nervous. Don't be absurd. It's just a gondola. In the middle of a canal. With some random bloke at the helm."
His denial would have sounded more convincing if his face wasn't so ashen in the lights of Venice.
Neville took pity on him. He scooted closer, snuggling up to Charlie's side. "That random bloke is a competent gondolier," said Neville. "He hasn't lost a passenger yet."
"How do you know that?"
"Shush, I'm making it up as I go," chided Neville. "But don't worry. I'll reward you for your bravery back at our hotel."
