Summary: Minerva worries about Harry. Follows Dabbling Out Party.

After her impromptu waltz with Dumbledore, Minerva retired to the sidelines once more. She tapped her toes to a particularly lively song that the students were gyrating to. Professor Sprout joined Minerva, grinning from ear to ear.

"This is more fun than a centennial celebration at Solstice!" she exclaimed, loudly enough to be heard over the music.

Minerva smiled back at her. "I am delighted you're enjoying yourself, Pomona," she said. "Thank you for contributing the garlands and wreaths. Many people have commented on the lovely decorations."

Professor Sprout blushed and giggled like a school girl. "My students did most of the work," she said, deflecting the praise. "The elves did a wonderful job with the nibbles."

Minerva nodded. "They did, indeed. I believe they enjoy a good party as much as the students do."

"Where did Professor Dumbledore go?" asked Professor Sprout. "It was delightful, seeing you dance the waltz with him."

Minerva chuckled at that. "Albus said he was getting too old for such shenanigans, and he planned to retreat to his portrait for a snooze."

Professor Sprout slapped her leg and hooted with laughter. "I never thought I'd see the day that Dumbledore bowed out of a party!"

"Have you seen Potter?" Minerva thought to ask. She had yet to catch a glimpse of the guest of honor.

Professor Sprout's brows drew down as she thought. "I can't say as that I have," she replied. "However, it's quite crowded in here, and he's not the tallest tulip in the garden."

Minerva bit back a smile. Yes, Potter was vertically challenged, but it wouldn't do for her to point out his shortcomings. Instead, she said, "Perhaps not, but Malfoy is a tall tulip, and I have yet to see him in the Great Hall, either."

"You don't suppose..." mused Professor Sprout, now stroking her chin thoughtfully.

Minerva nodded reluctantly. "I've wondered" she said, "although the two of them cannot abide one another."

"Perhaps not," Professor Sprout said, "but you know what they say: there's a very thin line between rancor and passion."

Minerva couldn't argue with the logic, and that concerned her. Maybe she should retrieve Albus from his nap and send him to locate Potter. There was no telling what had befallen him.
