Summary: Albus and Minerva dance, to the delight of the students. Follows
Dropping Out Party.
Minerva's expression softened as she gazed at her spectral predecessor. "Are you capable of dancing in your current form, Albus?" she asked.
"I am capable of a great many things in this form, Minerva my dear," Dumbledore replied. He gave her a gallant half bow. "Will you do me the honor?" he requested, extending his hand to her.
Minerva placed her hand in his, shivering a bit at the sensation of chill. She allowed Dumbledore to lead her onto the dance floor, smiling when the students cheered and made room for them. The lively music came to a halt and was replaced with a traditional waltz. Minerva fell into the steps of the dance, even though she couldn't really feel her partner.
"Are you enjoying our party?" she asked.
"You have outdone yourself with this one, Minerva," Dumbledore complimented her. "Everyone seems to be enjoying it, with the possible exception of Mr Filch and Professor Snape."
"Severus is here, too?" cried Minerva, craning her head to look around the Great Hall.
"He is skulking in the shadows and grumbling," Dumbledore said with a laugh. "I believe there was some grumbling about hedonism."
Minerva laughed along with Dumbledore. "Severus needs to lighten up," she said.
"That is precisely what I told him!" Dumbledore exclaimed.
"Tell me, Albus, what color robes would you have chosen for this occasion?" Minerva asked as she made an elegant turn.
"Perhaps my finest lavender robes," mused Dumbledore. "It's a pity that these are transparent," he added, glancing down at himself. "Music gives color to the air of the moment, though, wouldn't you agree?"
"Indeed," Minerva nodded. She grinned and said, "I feel I should offer you some refreshment."
"Have you any absinthe?"
"Albus!" she scolded. "We do not allow such a libation in the castle, and if you used to keep some in your quarters, I don't want to hear about it."
"Ah, Minerva, perhaps you should lighten up, as well," Dumbledore said with a sigh. "You used to be such fun in your youth."
"Oh, I still know how to have fun, Albus," she said tartly. "I allowed this hedonistic party, did I not?"
Dumbledore chuckled and inclined his head. "You certainly did. It's fortunate for the students that they have you as Headmistress."
