"I confess myself impressed, Potter," Malfoy said before taking a sip of his (damnably expensive) wine. "I didn't believe you could get us a table at Henri's on such short notice."
Harry was too pleased with how well the evening was going now to take offense. "I'm not entirely useless, Malfoy," he countered. "I can always be counted on to save the day or salvage dinner, such as the case may be."
One side of Malfoy's mouth quirked up in a half smile. "It's refreshing to discover that I'm not the sole target of your dog's dirty deeds."
"I don't know what's gotten into Basil lately," said Harry. "I know you don't believe it, but he's generally very well-behaved."
Malfoy's eyebrows rose, but he refrained from comment. "I reckon I should thank the little rotter," he said. "I've been eager to try Henri's for some time now. How is it that you know the owner?"
Harry had been afraid Malfoy would ask him that, and his cheeks grew warm. He toyed with his fork and kept his gaze firmly on his dinner. "Erm, well, Malfoy, you see...I own Henri's."
