Summary: Dean and Seamus create a monster. Sequel to last week's
Sucking Out Party.
Dean Thomas caught up to his boyfriend in the Great Hall. Seamus was seated at one of the tables trying to comfort an inconsolable Dennis Creevey.
Seamus sent Dean a worried glance. "He is always tired and emotional these days," he said, indicating Dennis with a jerk of his chin. "The situation with Ron just made it worse."
Dean nodded and took a seat next to Dennis, who was slumped over the table with his head buried in his arms. "Buck up, Dennis," said Dean, patting him awkwardly on the back. "Ron is an arse, and he's not worth moping over."
Dennis raised his head and sighed. "I've fancied him for some time, you know, even though he's pants at Arithmancy, and he laughs like a hyena."
Dean wasn't sure how to respond to that, but he gave it a try. "Ron isn't bent," said Dean. "He may have been curious, but you had to know he'd go back to Hermione."
Dennis nodded, even as his lip drooped in a sulky pout. "A boy can dream, yeah?"
"Sure," Dean replied with an encouraging smile. "But, maybe you need to set your cap for someone who's not so attached to his girlfriend. Is there anyone else here that you fancy?"
Dennis perked up and began to look around the Great Hall. "It looks like someone has already pulled Neville," he sighed.
"I thought you fancied Harry," ventured Seamus.
"Not really," Dennis said, giving a slight shake of his head. "I like the big, strapping blokes." He blushed a little at that.
"I don't think Goyle has paired off with anyone yet," teased Seamus. He'd meant it as a joke, but Dennis looked in Goyle's direction, and his eyes narrowed with intent. Seamus and Dean exchanged a worried glance.
"Er, Dennis, I wasn't being serious," said Seamus.
"Yeah, mate, maybe you should avoid the Slytherins altogether," suggested Dean.
"Goyle looks lonely," said Dennis, standing up from the table. "Besides, I think he's just misunderstood." He ambled off, in spite of Seamus and Dean's protests.
Dean clapped a hand to his head and mumbled, "We've created a monster."
