"Do you take me for a pervert?!" demanded Malfoy, straightening in his seat.
"I can only hope," Harry said under his breath.
"What was that, Potter?"
Harry fought to keep the grin off of his face. "I said, of course I don't," he lied. Harry poured them each a glass of wine and handed one to Malfoy. "To new beginnings," he toasted.
Malfoy merely grunted, but he dutifully sipped his wine. Malfoy glanced up at Harry and quirked an eyebrow. "Is there anything else of mine you wish to destroy?" he inquired.
Harry frowned at his guest. "I've apologized for Basil's transgressions, offered to pay for the damages, and I've invited you to dinner to make amends," he said. Harry was beginning to wonder if Malfoy was worth pursuing.
"Where is the little rotter?" asked Malfoy. "I haven't seen hide nor filthy hair of him since he greeted me at the door.
"He's in the kitchen, enjoying his dinner," said Harry.
"Will there be any left for us?" drawled Malfoy.
"Basil is eating his kibble," Harry said. "I'm quite sure he wouldn't touch the ro-oh, bloody hell, I'd better go check on the little rotter."
