dove_drabbles Prompt #18 - Feel the promise of a warm day
Author's note: This is a sequel to Shelter, but it can be read alone.
Summary: Harry is itching to get outside, but Draco would prefer to wait until it's warmer.

Harry glanced into the living room as he walked by. He took two more steps and paused. Harry turned around and went back to the open doorway to gawp at his boyfriend.

"Draco, what are you doing?"

Draco looked up from his tangled position on the floor. His expression was somewhere between a grin and a grimace. "I'm practicing cat yoga," he replied.

Harry looked at Snowball. Their white cat had one leg extended over her head while she washed her spotless belly. Draco was seated next to her, struggling to straighten his leg like that. Harry shook his head and sighed. "Sorry, Draco, but you're just not that flexible."

"Perhaps not," said Draco, "but with practice I could be."

As Harry contemplated the merits of Draco improving his flexibility, Ralph sauntered past him into the living room. The old orange tom cat found a square of sunshine on the floor and flopped down for a nap.

"Now, that's my kind of cat yoga," said Harry.

"You just go ahead and emulate Ralph," snorted Draco. "Don't come whining to me when you pull a muscle playing Quidditch with the Weasleys."

Harry laughed at Draco's caustic comment. "Speaking of Quidditch," he began, "we should go outside for some fresh air."

Draco frowned and lowered his leg. "It's cold outside."

"It's chilly, yeah," said Harry, "but the sun is shining, and I can feel the promise of a warm Spring day in the near future. It will do you some good to get out of the house," he added. "You're turning into a cat."

Draco did a passable imitation of a meow, and Stan hopped off of the sofa onto the floor and sidled up to Draco. Stan's brother Ollie followed suit. Draco smiled and petted both cats at the same time. "Very well, Harry," he said. Draco stood up and stretched. "Let me get a coat, and we can go for a walk."

Harry was glad of the warmth of Draco's hand in his as they walked. It really was rather more chilly outside than he had anticipated. Worse, the sun was now obscured by clouds. Harry was surprised Draco hadn't begun complaining yet.

"I'm cold," Draco muttered, as if on cue.

"Don't you find the fresh air invigorating?" Harry countered. He was tired of being cooped up inside.

"If it was any more invigorating, I'd catch my death of cold."

"You aren't going to catch your death," scoffed Harry. "A brisk walk is just what we needed."

"So you say," Draco grumbled. "The only thing that could make this worse is if it started to rain."

Thunder rumbled overhead, and Harry felt raindrops on his head. "See what you've done?!"

"Don't you dare blame me, Potter!" Draco cried. He tugged on Harry's hand, pulling Harry in his wake as he dashed back in the direction of their house.

"It's just a little rain," Harry protested.

"There is no such thing as a little rain!"

Harry wasn't ready to give up. "There's nothing to do in the house," he said.

"Yes, there is," Draco insisted. "We can both practice cat yoga."
