Summary: Harry hates the dungeons, but Slytherin does offer some perks.

Harry strode into the Slytherin common room and glared at a pair of younger students, who were seated on the sofa. They scrambled off of it and slunk away, and Harry smiled in satisfaction as he slouched on the newly-vacated piece of furniture. Other than his bed, the sofa was the warmest place in Slytherin due to its proximity to the fireplace. Harry hated the bloody dungeons. Even in the warmer months, it was dark and gloomy, and during the winter, it was always cold down here.

Blaise sauntered into the common room. "Budge over," he growled, giving Harry's legs a shove.

Harry sighed, but he made room for his friend. "Let me borrow your notes from Potions," he said.

Blaise arched a brow. "Let me borrow your Charms essay," he countered.

Harry nodded agreement. Friend or not, Blaise wasn't about to just hand over his notes without some form of compensation. It wasn't the Slytherin way.

After his initial disappointment at being Sorted into Slytherin, Harry had quickly made a place for himself here. He had maintained a casual friendship with Ron, but Ron was now spending most of his time with Granger. No matter, Harry had Blaise. The two of them had bonded over their mutually dismal childhoods, and they were now fast friends. Blaise had accompanied Harry on some of his madcap adventures, and he had been the only person who had believed Harry when Harry had insisted Lord Voldemort had returned.

Harry stretched his legs out towards the fire, allowing the heat to seep into him. Slytherin didn't have much to offer for warmth and charm.

There was a small commotion as Draco entered the common room, followed closely by Greg. Harry suddenly felt warmer. He was pleased that he was able to spend time with Draco, and lately, he had begun to realize that the attraction might be mutual. It would be interesting to find out. Harry raised his hand, beckoning Draco over.

Draco came and sat on the sofa between Harry and Blaise, leaving Greg to hover behind them. "What do you want, Harry?" Draco asked, eyes on the fire he was holding his hands out towards.

It was a loaded question, but Harry refrained from stating what he truly wanted. Instead, he went with, "I need help with Arithmancy."

Draco turned to look at him. "You called me over here for that?" he scoffed.

"What did you expect?" Harry countered. "Did you think I was going to confess my undying love for you?"

Draco's eyes gleamed in the firelight. "No need to confess, Harry," he said. "Everyone knows how much you want me."

It was familiar banter between them. It fired Harry's blood, and it made Blaise and Greg laugh. Harry chuckled at Draco's taunt, too. Some day, however, he planned to show his Housemate just how true that statement was.

It seemed Slytherin had its perks, after all.
