"Luna! Luna, wait!"
Neville beamed when the girl of his dreams stopped and looked back at him. She bestowed one of her radiant smiles on him, and Neville's heart thudded almost painfully in his chest.
"It seems strange to be going home already," said Luna. "This year went by so quickly."
It had passed by so quickly that Neville had never gotten the chance to ask Luna out. As they prepared to board the Hogwarts Express, he had seized the opportunity to finally speak to her. "Do you have any special plans for the summer?" he asked.
Luna nodded. "My boyfriend and I are going to help Father with the Quibbler," she said. "Rolf has come up with some ideas for absolutely fascinating articles."
"Oh, right," said Neville, managing to keep a smile fixed on his face. "That sounds nice."
"What about you, Neville?" Luna beamed up at him. "What are you going to do?"
"I hadn't thought about it yet," he said, eyes on the ground.
The train's whistle sounded, and Luna gave Neville's arm a gentle squeeze. "Enjoy your holiday," she said.
She whirled away in a riot of colorful clothing and blonde hair and joined the throng of students boarding the train.
Neville watched until she disappeared from view, taking his heart and his summer dreams with her.
