"Draco!" Harry called as he came through the front door. "Draco?"
There was no answer.
"Annalise?"
...
"Pixie?"
Purrip?
Harry scooped the calico cat up in his arms. "Thank goodness you're here, Pixie," he said, scratching her ears. "I was beginning to think my family had abandoned me." Harry set Pixie down and wandered into the kitchen. Draco had been baking again, as evidenced by the warm scent of cinnamon lingering in the air.
Thinking to sneak a treat while his husband wasn't there to scold or ground him, Harry opened the cupboard where Draco kept the biscuits and found a folded piece of parchment with his name on it. He unfolded it and read Draco's message:
Harry, Mum just informed me that my cousin Jean-Luc will be visiting for the hols with his family. Therefore, Annalise and I have had to rush out for some last minute shopping.
Should you want a snack, there's a basket of fruit on the counter. If you eat any of the sweets, I will Crucio you when I get home.
Love, Draco
Harry chuckled and reached for a biscuit before reconsidering. Draco would likely be frazzled when he returned home, and he might very well Crucio first and ask questions later. With a sigh of disappointment, Harry closed the cupboard and helped himself to an apple.
