They're yours now. I'll just borrow them ok? Besides you're the only other person that could understand her. I'll need help translating.
[Except not really. At times it almost felt like the three of them spoke their own language. All three of them were brilliant--Genius could recognize that much. The three of them were also connected in a way Genius wasn't sure any of them could explain--their doppelgangers had lived together in Adstringéndum. With Fracta gone it felt like losing a piece to a puzzle that wasn't finished.
Genius couldn't articulate any of those thoughts but he knew that Qi could hear them. So he tries to bury the thoughts in the back of his head, pushing away his own sadness clumsily.]
We can look at them together. Maybe even finish the taco cart just like she always wanted. Or I could make you tacos?
[ She doesn't mind his thoughts, because they kind of mirror her own. Fracta never questioned her or her sudden behaviors and she doesn't know where she'll find that kind of acceptance again.
It makes her feel a little lost and slightly scared. What if Genius left, just vanished? What if Simon did? It was more frightening than the idea of either of them dying (or in the case of her brother, dying again). ]
Make them with me? [ Was that supposed to be a question? Oh well. ] I don't know. I could finish the cart. But I can't run it. Hire someone else, maybe?
[There is probably comfort in the knowledge that Genius is also terrified of losing Qi, although he won't let himself think about it consciously. Unconsciously the thought flickers like a dying neon light. Worry. Pause. Worry. It takes an awful lot of energy for him to pulls himself away so he can look at Qi in the eyes as he speaks].
Of course with you. I don't want to make tacos with anyone else.
[Pause. That sounds ...odd. And wrong. Bell's influence.]
I mean--we can worry about that later. Cross the bridges when we get there.
There really isn't any good way of informing him that she's there, so she settles on tugging at the hem of his pants leg when he sits down. ]

Genius is her friend and like all her friends, there is more than a slight idea of safety in their presence. ]
I'll show you. [ Closing her eyes. ] Keep the ones you want. Could do more with them than I can.

Ok.
[Hmm the lights are on...not quite sure anyone's home right now]

Space cadet of a boy. You have work. I'll sit here.

Huh?
[OH WAIT. HE'S AT WORK. More than that, he's at work, in the same building as Simon and he's there with his arms around Simon's little sister.
DOH!]
RIGHT work!
[Somebody drops Qi like she's hot]
I should--work. I work here. So I should do it. ...Yeah.
[Right moving away now and getting those thrilling blood samples processed. A-yup. Totally nothing to see here.]

Ni hen ke ai [ She murmurs to herself, but he probably caught the 'cute' part of that translation. ]

[Obviously]
I --think I'm going to work now.
[He turns away...then quickly turns back, reaches into his desk and pulls out a bag of potato chips]
Here. Cause you're too skinny.
[And because somebody is five. He smiles another dopey smile and then returns to his lab work, albeit much much much more distracted than before]
