[ She'd scrambled in the window and under his bed so fast it was nearly superhuman. Now she had her face pressed against the floorboard and her arms curled around herself - consequently also around the little star and Simon's now non-functioning journal.

All Genius got for a response was a harsh but still quiet sob. ]
