Books that stuck with you

Recently I had a conversation about what books you read in school that stuck with you. Here are a few that disturbed me in middle school.

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs

The Teltale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe

Seriously, what were my teachers thinking? I was eleven!

Telltale Heart at 11?? *shivers* ack!

mine was - A light in the forest... I have NO idea what the damn thing was about, but it sacred me for life! lol That and some insane thing about a kid in colonial New England who was working for a silver smith and got his hand melted... Johnny Tremaine maybe?

Seriously, what the hell is it with teachers?

Lord of the Flies. And for extra trauma, they showed the movie too.

I can't even remember the ones that did.

But I do remember having to memorize poems in 4th grade.
