[ Dying is a fact of life, even for those who have departed it. Julian dies on a nightly basis - he's fairly used to it now. Less so in other people; he's got a horrible habit of forcing himself to forget those that he has accidentally killed over the years. ]

Hm. [ she's amused, yes she is, but wryly so. ] Perhaps one day they will allow you to die, Dresden, and then you shan't be allowed in the club any more.

Nobody is ready for death, even if they say they are, even if they are expecting their God to meet them. [ He shrugs, pulling his helmet to his lap and dusting it off with mild interest. ] Nobody wants to die, not really.

( She frowns, almost a pout, staring at the postcard and turning it over and over. ) I miss my grandparents.

( Ah, well. Shake it off, shake it off. ) It's a bit scary, isn't it? No point really thinking about it, though. There's so much brighter stuff to enjoy, why would you ever think about that?

It's not always easy to avoid, even if we wish we could dodge the subject forever.

( Looking over at Teagan, Jules smiles. Much brighter, much less complicated. ) No, I suppose not. It's nice when you can, though, isn't it? Death only comes at the end of your life. What's the use of fussing over it before?

( Not quite how she feels, no, but she doesn't know this girl, doesn't want to think about death. This is easier.

[ That's another discussion entirely. The "end" of someone's life is unpredictable, there's no set expiration date. She can tell that Jules doesn't really want to continue this conversation - so the puppy is a welcome distraction.

Mind you, she does start a little, staring blankly down at the puppy, unsure of what to do about the fact that there are little teeth nibbling on her shoes. She's not very used to animals - the few that she's met haven't been particularly friendly. ]
