[ THIS TEAGAN IS RATHER UNSETTLED ALSO.
She stands, quite still, in front of a random house, frowning at the windows, at its quaint normality. Her arms are tightly folded across her chest, the sleeves of her oversized jumper pulled down over her fingers. Her usual calm and airy manner hasn't yet returned to her. ]

[ His wording is a little curious. She casts him a questioning little glance, unsure of whether she's simply misunderstanding his words or if they mean something else altogether. ]

It wasn't?

[Jeremy gives her a slightly nervous look, like he's afraid he said too much. Let's save ourselves with a little shrug.]

It just doesn't look like it.

[ She makes a small noise, soft and vague, neither agreement nor argument.

Hm. Teagan is vaguely suspicious, but she doesn't feel like she should question him - anyway, she feels bad for feeling suspicious, because it feels a bit hypocritical and rich of her to do so. She feels a little stab of discomfort again as he thoughts drift to what she did, recently, and she shudders a little to herself, pulling her legs closer to her chest. ]

[He presses his lips awkwardly. He was expecting more questioning, more reasons for him to come up with lame excuses. Jeremy still allows himself to feel too comfortable sometimes. It distracts him from keeping that filter on his words.]

... Do you think they'll come back?

Maybe. [ Teagan's eyes flit briefly around the room, at the furniture, the bits and pieces left behind from other lives already lived, before looking back at Jeremy for a moment. ] I sort of hope so. Places like this give me the creeps... they weren't really made to be abandoned, if you ask me. They were made for people to live in them.

Well. Yes. [He couldn't really offer any objection to that if he tried.

He looks up, at the way the sun light still seeps in through the windows.]

I hope they come back, too.

[But he knows they won't.]

[ Teagan cannot think of any appropriate responses or anything to add. Resting her chin on her knees, her gaze follows Jeremy's to the windows and the light. This is the simply kind of house she has always wanted; reasonably small, but spacious enough. The armchair isn't comfortable, as such, a little stiff, barely yeilding beneath her. Even if she's a fairly small young woman, it still doesn't feel quite right. But she feels distinctly relaxed, regardless. It's a nice change. ]

[He isn't quite sure what to do -- it's one of those dreaded awkward silences on his end. His eyes look at her, then at the floor, then at the furniture, at the window, back at her...

Jeremy finally scratches the back of his head, exhaling a little sound. He decides to sit, hunched away from the back of the other couch, clasping his hands between his knees.]

[ She smiles faintly at Jeremy, watching him for a moment before speaking once again. ]

You always seem so tense. I don't think I've ever really seen you relax before. [ Teagan is fairly sure that these remarks will probably only fluster him further, so after a small pause, she counters with what she hopes isn't an intrusive question. ] What's your world like? [ Of course, since she knows that he is a young Jerry, she knows that their worlds are effectively the same, but she doesn't know what it was like before. ]

[He arches his eyebrows, clearing his throat with pressed lips and knitted eyebrows. Let's dodge the first part and answer the question.]

My world? [There's a pause. He shrugs lightly.] I don't know. Normal, I guess. It's not really different from most of the places we go to.

... I go to school. [Not sure if that's relevant.]

School? [ Teagan seems to brighten with interest, sitting up a little straighter. As someone who's never had much formal education, this is kind of new to her. ] What's that like?

[He looks surprised. He didn't quite think that Teagan might not have been in the education system.]

It's... boring. Mostly. [He smiles, slightly nervous.] But I like my classmates.
