[Jerry is sweating, hugging his abdomen and just being completely miserable right now. YAY, VIOLENT VISIONS OF PEOPLE HE BARELY KNOWS.]

You don't understand-- she's bleeding! She's blee-- [He runs out of breath, sobbing and hissing a little deliriously. He is very unlike his usually collected and sheepish self right now...]

[ Oh yes, Teagan is indeed bleeding, and rather profusely. She sinks against the hospital wall, groaning quietly, her hand pressed as hard as she can manage to the source of the blood, on her side. Her lip is bleeding and there's a small gash above her grow - she looks as though she's been rather violently dragged through a bush. Hair and clothes in absolute disarray, she scrunches her eyes shut and tries to contain a small whimper of pain. Beyond the charming stab wound, other parts of her are sore and ache terribly. She's bruised terribly, but being a hybrid, she's made of tougher stuff.

Still, hatred and fear are terrible things with terrible consequences. ]

[She didn't need a hospital, wasn't hurt at all, but she'd been wandering and somehow she'd ended up here. She knew about hospitals, had read about them, seen pictures, but she had never been in one. All of her injuries had been treated at home, her mother an expert field nurse, even if she had no true qualifications past long and hard-earned experience. Asha had been curious, to see how it was dealt with in the cities. Another time when her curiosity had led her somewhere she should not have gone.

There's too much pain in the place, too much sickness and sadness and joyous relief. Tangled lines of sparkling lights, deep black shadows, and she's caught in it now, struggling as quietly and calmly as she can, but knotted deep and unable to find a way out.

She seems only to be wandering the corridors, leaning on the wall at times, staring into the distance and taking sharp turnings for no apparent reason, but truly trying desperately to get out of the building and free of the miasma it contains.]

[Desi's finally done it, got cut off by a truck on the freeway and she and her bike went tumbling into an irrigation ditch. The broken arm means she's going to have to stay here for a while and she's brooding over it in her hospital bed when she feels Asha enter the building.

She knew the twins were off the mountain, good for them, it's about time, but she isn't sure why Asha is here, certainly not to see her, it was just a broken arm not a big deal. Doesn't take her long to decide that doesn't matter though, not with the way Asha's getting herself tangled up. Desiree curses under her breath and gets up, hurriedly tugging into her clothes before heading out in her bare feet to find her sister.]

[Desiree is here. She knows it, distantly, a bright light strung to herself rather than part of the web gnarled and twisted around her. Perhaps that was why she was drawn to the place.

Not something she considers at the moment, her struggle drawing her attention close and sharp, awareness pulling inward, clustering tightly as she grows more desperate. She cannot even direct herself to her sister, each new strand of emotion, shade of a spirit long gong, heavy veil of grief becoming a monstrously huge thing that takes her more and more effort to push past.]

[Desiree looks pretty hilarious with her shirt only halfway on, but while she'd been able to stretch her way into her bra, but she hadn't want to rip her shirt trying to fit the imposition of her broken arm through the sleeve. She'll get Asha to help her with it later.

For now, she spots her sister and quickens her step. She doesn't say anything immediately, just presses Asha back into the wall, putting herself physically between her sister and the rest of the hospital, even putting her arms up as a barrier around the girl.

Then she says,]

Hey. Asha. Look at me.

[Calendre is absolutely in tears. She does not want to get her shots. She does not care in the slightest how nice the doctor may or may not be.]

[And of course Dominique is there to gather her up and wipe those tears away. She doesn't bother assuring her that the doctor is nice, because what effect would that have on the shots themselves?]

It will only take a second, you'll see.

[Calendre holds on to her mother's shirt, snuffling pathetically. This is clearly child torture.]

It hurts. [Sniff.] And they go extra slow so it's scary longer.

[;~~~~~~~~; it was inhumane.]

Yes, but only for a little while.

[Her voice is soft, even if she isn't sugar-coating her words or feeding her daughter white lies. She's never done that with any of the children.]

They only take as long as necessary. It's to help keep you strong, not to scare you.
