[She didn't need a hospital, wasn't hurt at all, but she'd been wandering and somehow she'd ended up here. She knew about hospitals, had read about them, seen pictures, but she had never been in one. All of her injuries had been treated at home, her mother an expert field nurse, even if she had no true qualifications past long and hard-earned experience. Asha had been curious, to see how it was dealt with in the cities. Another time when her curiosity had led her somewhere she should not have gone.
There's too much pain in the place, too much sickness and sadness and joyous relief. Tangled lines of sparkling lights, deep black shadows, and she's caught in it now, struggling as quietly and calmly as she can, but knotted deep and unable to find a way out.
She seems only to be wandering the corridors, leaning on the wall at times, staring into the distance and taking sharp turnings for no apparent reason, but truly trying desperately to get out of the building and free of the miasma it contains.]
[Desi's finally done it, got cut off by a truck on the freeway and she and her bike went tumbling into an irrigation ditch. The broken arm means she's going to have to stay here for a while and she's brooding over it in her hospital bed when she feels Asha enter the building.
She knew the twins were off the mountain, good for them, it's about time, but she isn't sure why Asha is here, certainly not to see her, it was just a broken arm not a big deal. Doesn't take her long to decide that doesn't matter though, not with the way Asha's getting herself tangled up. Desiree curses under her breath and gets up, hurriedly tugging into her clothes before heading out in her bare feet to find her sister.]
[Desiree is here. She knows it, distantly, a bright light strung to herself rather than part of the web gnarled and twisted around her. Perhaps that was why she was drawn to the place.
Not something she considers at the moment, her struggle drawing her attention close and sharp, awareness pulling inward, clustering tightly as she grows more desperate. She cannot even direct herself to her sister, each new strand of emotion, shade of a spirit long gong, heavy veil of grief becoming a monstrously huge thing that takes her more and more effort to push past.]
[Desiree looks pretty hilarious with her shirt only halfway on, but while she'd been able to stretch her way into her bra, but she hadn't want to rip her shirt trying to fit the imposition of her broken arm through the sleeve. She'll get Asha to help her with it later.
For now, she spots her sister and quickens her step. She doesn't say anything immediately, just presses Asha back into the wall, putting herself physically between her sister and the rest of the hospital, even putting her arms up as a barrier around the girl.
[The hospital corridors are like a dream for her at the moment, distant mirages, sterile lines and bright lights and the smell of antiseptic holding no strength in comparison to the things she sees instead. But her sister is bright, a dazzling light against all the patches of darkness, the thin strings of joy and relief that criss-cross themselves over the grey shades of pain and sickness. Her sister comes to her and blocks it all out, cages her in a light that is soft and familiar, welcome.
She is barely aware of lifting one hand to curl over Desiree's good arm, holding on as the sense of everything else in the hospital begins to recede, as her panic calms and her sorely tested control begins to fit back into place again.]
[Desi strokes her hair awkwardly with her newly broken arm, watching her little sister very intensely. A nurse comes to ask them if she can help them and Desiree turns on her with a deep scowl and she backs off, startled by lightning flashes in green eyes.
Desiree goes right back to what she was doing then.]
[It is enough, with her sister shielding and with a little time, for Asha to pull herself back into order. She holds herself in a tight bundle, though, careful not to feel or look or know outside of the circle of Desiree's arms. It would be easy to slip again, to get snarled and dragged back under.]
Thank you.
[Quiet, soft. She shouldn't have come into the hospital and Desiree was hurt, she shouldn't have had to come to her rescue.]
[That would have been her next request, but Desiree is already leading them out. The hospital's influence is too large to her to relax much, stepping outside, but it feels like fresh air slowly filtering into her lungs. She needs to get further away, but surely Desi, with her broken arm, shouldn't leave.
Her thoughts turning to her sister more completely, she realises the state of her shirt, and the night air is not very warm. She stops, immediately, not bothered by anything around them as she starts to tug the fabric into place better.]
[Desi lets her, because she'd kind of like her shirt properly in place too, but that's about it. Her wallet is in her pants and if the hospital really wants its money... they can probably track down her mom. Desi doesn't really like the way that sounds, but Desi has about fifty dollars and all of that needs to go into getting her bike out of the impound.
Okay, yeah, she'll need to pick up a new pair of shoes too. Damn. ...maybe those mountain fairing twins would have a nice pair of boots she could jack off them.]
Thanks. [She reaches over to smooth Asha's hair up out of her face.] How you doing?
[Distracted by Desiree's shirt still for a moment, then frowning slightly at her bare feet, but she answers eventually,]
Better.
[A glance back at the hospital. She really should've expected the whole thing, if she'd had mind to really think about what the building was used for and all the things that happened to the people within in.]
I need to be further away. It's like a storm.
[Hopefully, if she ever needed to go into one again, it would be in enough time to let her have a little more control over herself. And she would be prepared. Feeling slightly less hesitant in letting her senses drift, she looks away from the hospital and off in another direction.]
[He would have gone to rescue Asha himself, but it wasn't as if he wanted to go into the hospital any more than she did. He would have done it, if Desiree hadn't been there, but he wouldn't have enjoyed it. He might not have made it out and then their mother would have had to come find them. That sounded like a nice way to start out their home...
But their older sister was there and she's brought Asha out to him, and he goes to collect up his twin, quick to lay hands on and ground her to him. Doesn't bother to complain about how difficult she makes his life, she knows.]
[She settles in against Bowen's hands gratefully, her fingers curling in his shirt. The last piece she needs to gather herself fully, using her twin as a guide to stabilise her centre and shift her bindings and borders into their true places.]
Sorry.
[She makes his life difficult, she knows. She only went into the hospital because she was curious, but he knows that, too. She gives him a slight smile, though. She was safe, she had found Desiree, and their sister had led her out. She turns slightly to look at her.]

[Desi puts one of her hands into her pockets, holds the other arm curved over her stomach. Fucking cast.]
Let's go meet him.

[They'll need to go home and pick them up though. He doesn't think the rest of the adventure should be mentioned to their mother, however.]
