jehane18, who requested Peter and Eames meeting again in Botswana. Sort of vague spoilers for season three of Fringe.
After it's all over, after the world of his birth and the world of his life have been saved, Peter leaves Boston.
He can't stay and look at Olivia every day, knowing that he was taken in by someone that wasn't her. He thought they were more than that. They weren't. He can't stay and look at Walter every day, not knowing whether he loves or hates the man that is and is not his father. He owes them both more than that.
So he leaves. He buys a plane ticket to Cape Town at random, but once he's there, he's still restless. He heads north and tries to lose himself in Gaborone.
He's found instead.
He's sitting at the bar in his hotel when he feels someone take the seat next to his. He doesn't look, isn't interested in who it is. But then they speak and he's something more than interested.
"Can I buy you a drink?"
Peter turns his head slowly to the right, both surprised and not to see Eames sitting there, a cocky smirk on his face. Peter wants very badly to wipe it away. He just nods and turns his attention back to his beer instead. "Sure."
Eames's arm bumps his as he signals to the bartender and Peter's skin burns where they've barely touched.
"What are you doing here?" he asks before he can stop himself. He doesn't want to know the answer. He needs to know the answer.
"Peter," Eames says and he makes himself look Eames straight in the eye. "Didn't I tell you once that I'd always find you? I keep my promises."
Peter nods and looks away, back down at his drink. For now, that's all the honesty he can stand. They drink together, silently, for hours. When Peter leaves the bar that night, Eames goes with him.
Eames always goes with him.
